Mumbai: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who turned 73 on Sudnay, said love and affection of his family, friends and well wishers matter more to him then material thing.

Wearing a florescent green colour kurta, Amitabh Bachchan came out to address the media at his bungalow 'Janak' in suburban Juhu here while his famous song Aree Diwano from the film Don was being played in the background.

"I feel no amount of gift can replace the love and affection of family, friends and well wishers. It is greater than anything else. I accept that with grace and humility. When we were kids that time gifts used to matter but not today," Amitabh Bachchan told reporters.

"I do not look and analyse the changes. I try to work hard, entertain people through my work, do good work for the society and bring smile on people's face. I think one matures with time. I feel fortunate to be spending time with family, friends on this day," Big B said.

His bungalow, like every year (on October 11), was decorated with garlands and outside hundreds of fans were waiting to catch a glimpse of the megastar.

"I was there with my family. My daughter Shweta has come, she cooked food for me last night. Today Jaya is making (food). There is nothing particular that I eat or like. I went to take the blessings of my (late) parents at Pratiksha (his another bungalow)," Amitabh Bachchan said.

"Abhishek is not here (in London shooting for a film), he called me last night. He will call me again. Thanks to technology one can see each other and talk. I am yet to meet Aaradhya," he added.

For the legendary actor, being with family on birthdays is a big matter. “I feel family should be together. When my parents were there, I used to spend time with them. When I used to be on shoots, they would call and wish," he said.

"Earlier, I used to be working on my birthday but now everyone in the family asks (me) not to work. They have negated me to do work," he added.
