How to stay safe
The WHO recommends sun protection when the UVI is above 3. Generally, premature ageing, dark spots and freckles are considered side effects of UV exposure. Here are a few steps to stay safe:
1) Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen in all exposed skin areas
2) Use sunglasses
3) Wear full sleeve cotton clothing
4) Try to avoid being outdoors from 11 am to 3 pm
5) Avoid direct sunlight whenever possible, seek shade
6) Be alert about heat and UV warnings
7) Ensure that you drink two to three litres of water every day
8) Add electrolyte-rich drinks like tender coconut water to your routine, especially if you sweat a lot
9) Take quick medical help if you feel extreme exhaustion
10) Avoid strenuous activities during peak hot hours of the day
