In a heartwarming tale of canine companionship, a German Shepherd named Davood has emerged a hero after donating blood to save the life of a critically ill Labrador in Kerala.
A desperate search for a donor
Jassie, a two-and-a-half-year-old female Labrador from Udayamperoor in Ernakulam, had fallen dangerously ill with a severe fever. Her blood count plummeted to critical levels, leaving her body visibly discoloured and blue. Vets warned her family that without an urgent blood transfusion within 48 hours, Jassie would not survive. Desperate to save their pet, her owners searched frantically across various centres for a matching donor, but were met with disappointment at every turn.
A timely intervention
Refusing to give up, Jassie's owners searched online and found George Joseph, the owner of Orange Pet Care in Thodupuzha. Learning about the dire emergency, George immediately offered his German Shepherd, Davood, as a donor. The successful blood transfusion was carried out at Dr Narendran Veterinary Clinic in Manakkad, Thodupuzha. Following a full recovery, Jassie has now safely returned home to Udayamperoor.
