Now, KSRTC to go cashless: You can travel using pre-paid cards

Thiruvananthapuram: In a bid to ease Keralite's woes post-demonetization, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has decided to introduce pre-paid cards for passengers. The card will have a validity for a month and can be renewed at the end of it.

People can enjoy unlimited travel using these cards, KSRTC managing director M.G. Rajamanickam has said. He also said that it will help the KSRTC that has been reeling under financial crisis.

Travel limits using these cards

» Using the bronze card worth Rs 1,000, you can travel via ordinary and limited services within a district.

» For the silver card worth Rs 1,500, you can travel anywhere in limited, ordinary services.

» The gold card of Rs 3,000 is for the long-distance travelers, who can travel anywhere in fast and superfast buses.

» And finally using the Rs 5,000-premium cards, you can travel in all buses including the AC volvo. But KSRTC scania buses are not part of the premium card offer.

The consumer's ID card number will be printed on the prepaid card. While boarding the bus, you need to show both your ID card and prepaid card to the conductor.

The cards will be introduced from next week onwards, Manorama News reported.
