Millions of people were rendered homeless or displaced by the recent Kerala floods, shattering the dreams of many who built homes with the earnings of a lifetime. Jeenu Nazeer, popular TV presenter, built her dream abode in Companypady, Aluva in a similar manner.

But when the flood waters wreaked havoc, Jeenu’s house wasn’t spared either. She shared the pictures of her flooded house in her Facebook page along with a few pictures of the house taken on the day of the house warming ceremony.

Like many Keralites, Jeenu too has suffered the pain of losing many precious memories associated with the house, as it got severely damaged in the flood. She says that the personally designed interior features, beautiful courtyard and custom made furniture were all damaged in the flood waters.

“There is a canal behind our house. Earlier when the dams were opened, the water level in that canal didn’t rise. But this time, on the first day after all the dams were opened, we noticed that water level was rising in the canal. Still we were hopeful that water wouldn’t gush into the house. But by evening, things changed and we immediately shifted to another house,” Jeenu recollects.

When the family returned the next day to collect some important documents, they had to wade through water. Heartbreaking sights awaited them when they opened the main door and entered the house. The custom made furniture were floating all around the house and the interior courtyard done in a unique design, which was the highlighting feature, got completely destroyed.

By the next day, the entire first floor of the house got submerged in the water. Jeenu, however, says that more than the flooded house what shocked them was the state of the house after the water receded. The family is currently trying hard to clean up the house and restore the lost charm of their dream home.

Jeenu says, “I can’t say that mine is a bigger loss than what others had suffered. More than the physical form of the house, what pains me a lot is the loss of small things which we are emotionally attached to me, like my childhood photo album, wedding pictures, album of my kid’s first birthday, personal diaries, favorite books, precious little things given by our loved ones and the like. But I am optimistic that we can rebuild everything.” She even wishes that all those people who have suffered the wrath of the deadly floods too recover soon with hope and confidence.

Sharing the pictures of her damaged home, Jeenu wrote on her Facebook page, “...but since der is life left in all of us..we hav to survive,..we hav to live,..n we will…c’mon Kerala, we are all SUPER SUPER STARS..”
