Unbelievable makeover renders this Thrissur house a classy look
Though it is a renovated house, one could hardly spot any similarities with the old structure as it has been cleverly ‘concealed’ using amazing designer elements.

The incredible transformation the two-storied house in Thrissur has undergone rendered it a chic and classy look exuding charm of traditional architecture.
The house which was built around 38 years ago has had a mesmerizing facelift and hardly gives any glimpse of the old structure. The 6000 sq ft renovated house stands regally in a 35 cents plot. New spaces were added without actually changing the basic structure of the old house. The roof which can be transformed into walls, at some places, is one of the highlighting features of this beautiful house.
The family, committed to preserve the environment, was particular that the trees in the plot shouldn’t be cut while renovating the house. Unlike many modern houses, the front courtyard isn’t paved with interlocking blocks, instead, buffalo grass has been grown to add a touch of greenery.
The house has formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen, 4 bath attached bedrooms and a courtyard. The interior spaces became open and more spacious after many unnecessary walls were knocked down. Spaces are wisely utilized in the renovated house and the family living area is arranged below the stair way.
The beautiful water body is indeed one of the most prominent features in the house which draws the attention of guests. The spaces are arranged in such a way that the soothing view of the water body can be enjoyed from everywhere. Closed concrete walls were replaced with louvers and glass windows which invites lots of sunshine into the interiors.
The 4 bedrooms are bath attached and have wardrobe spaces as well. The balcony which offers an amazing view of the beautiful nature outside is an important designer feature here. A sitting space too has been arranged here by building traditional back rests in wood.
The major changes applied for the transform
Steel tress work was done on the concrete roof and paved with roofing tiles
A sit out, formal living area, dining space, an open kitchen and pool are arranged on the ground floor
The family living area was redone in double height
The open space adjacent to the master bedroom was transformed into a patio
The sun-shade roof of the old house was changed into a balcony
Furnishing
The furniture is custom-made to match the theme of the interiors
The doors and windows are made of teak wood
Terracotta mud tiles and vitrified tiles are paved on the floor
Teak wood is used on the stair way as well. The hand railings are attached with iron pillars
The kitchen has been furnished using multiwood, plywood – mica finish
Though it is a renovated house, one could hardly spot any similarities with the old structure as it has been cleverly ‘concealed’ using amazing designer elements. The architects who designed the elegant new house say that the pleasant atmosphere inside the house is reflected in the personality of the family members as well.
