Warmth of tradition, fragrance of luxury blend in this spectacular Thrissur home

Uniquely designed, the structure gels well with the natural bounty of the surroundings.

Vineeth and Ramya’s brand new house called Devadhani in the picturesque hamlet of Cherpu in Thrissur, Kerala, is amazingly in sync with nature. The lush greenery, beautiful ponds and the temples that boast traditional architecture set the perfect bucolic backdrop here.

The uniquely designed structure blends with the natural beauty of the surroundings. Interestingly, the house is built between two mango trees that are retained in the plot. These trees form a spectacular canopy of greenery above the house.

The elevation features a fabulous blend of traditional and contemporary styles. The car porch has a truss roof that is paved with tiles. The traditional sit-out is what grants an ethnic look to the elevation. A Truss roof is installed over the flat roof. This is then paved with traditional-style mud roofing tiles. So, the harsh sun rays wouldn’t hit the roof directly, maintaining a pleasant atmosphere in the interiors. The natural stone claddings and the terracotta jali works on the outer wall are elegant and add to the charming look of the house.

Designed in 1980 sqft, this splendid abode has a car porch, sit out, living and dining areas, two courtyards, a kitchen with a work area and three bedrooms.

The interiors are designed in an open style. However, the semi-partitions ensure enough privacy to the spaces. Well-designed and compact corridors are what connect the interior spaces.

The dining hall with a double-height ceiling is the highlight of the interiors. The dining table, meanwhile, has a bench on one side. Terracotta hanging lamps with steel frames add a delightful ambience to this area.

From here, one could get to the outer courtyard through a sliding glass door. Moreover, there is another courtyard just beside the dining area. Both courtyards are connected and are decorated with beautiful indoor plants.

The indoor courtyard that has a toughened glass roof has been turned into a pooja space too. Meanwhile, the open roof in the outer courtyard brings in the rain and the sunshine.

The custom-made furniture matches the general theme of the house. Meanwhile, the in-built furniture in the formal living area is a smart addition. Vitrified tiles in the white and wooden finish are used for flooring in the common areas.

The walkway in the front yard is paved with hard rocks, granting a rustic charm to the exteriors. Meanwhile, the garden and the landscape are filled with plants, flowering bushes and shading trees too. The guests are impressed by this mesmerizing house that stands amid the greenery. The family proudly says that many have been asking them to share the plan of Devadhani that has already become the talk of the town.
