This grand Palakkad house wows with green interiors and exotic designs

The structure has been built by retaining the natural layout of the plot that lies in multiple layers.

Jaseem’s brand new palatial dwelling at Padinjarangadi in Palakkad district has been rightly named Sukoon. This sweet sounding Urdu word means ‘Serenity’. Interestingly, the beautiful and calm ambience of the interiors makes ‘Sukoon’ the right choice of name for this remarkable house.

The structure has been built by retaining the natural layout of the plot that lies in multiple layers. So, the interiors too are arranged in varying floor levels. The blend of a double layered roof that is paved with shingles and the flat roof grants a unique charm to the elevation. Shingles have been paved after installing GI truss work. Aesthetically done landscape and the fabulous garden complement the perfect look of the exteriors. The front yard, meanwhile, has been paved with natural stones and grass in alternate layers.

The sit out that is grandly decorated with lush greenery is an extraordinary feature of this house. In the center, there is a courtyard where a small mango tree and other flowering plants are grown. Besides the classy wooden furniture, there is a traditional hanging cot too in the sit out. This is the perfect spot to relax in the evenings while enjoying the cool breeze that blows from the garden. There is a small corridor lined by wooden pillars that connects the sit out to the entrance area.

Designed in 5500 sqft, this majestic mansion has a spacious car porch, fabulous sit out, formal and family living areas, dining space, prayer area, show kitchen and a working kitchen with an adjacent work area and five bedrooms. The interiors are smartly separated into public and private areas. Though the house looks like a double storey structure from outside, there is an additional basement too where a bedroom, sitting area and a reading room have been arranged. Vitrified tiles are paved on the floor in the common areas. The custom made furniture amazingly complements the unique theme of the house.

Most of the areas in the ground floor are designed in double height. So, the interiors look incrediblly spacious. The entrance door opens to an elegantly furnished formal living area that has a double height ceiling.

The splendid courtyard is the highlight of the ground floor. This area has a steel and glass roof and the floor is paved with hard rocks. Just like the fabulous courtyard near the sit out, this one too is elaborately decorated with indoor plants. In fact, most of the areas in this house are adorned with beautiful indoor plants. This indeed fills the hearts with a tranquil feeling. The family living area too is designed in double height. A sliding glass door in the family living area opens to the amazing courtyard.

The family living area is part of the spacious dining hall. This area, that has a double height ceiling, acts as a vast space that connects both the floors. From the dining area, one could get to the quaint patio. The water fountain mounted on the laterite clad wall is an interesting feature here. This area too is decorated with lots of hanging indoor plants. Moreover, the sun shine that comes in through the pergola skylight illuminates this area in natural light. The triple height stairway, meanwhile, connects all the floors including the basement. The stairway is made in steel and wood with a chic glass finish. Glass and classy terracotta jalis highlight the wall beside the stairway. Golden sunshine that comes in through these jali works grants special warmth to this area.

The upper floor has two bedrooms, an entertainment room, balcony and a terrace garden. The bedrooms are designed by catering to the interests and likes of the family members. Utility and comfort have been given priority while designing the rooms for the elders in the family. Meanwhile, the charming kids’ bedrooms exude lots of positive vibes. The bath attached bedrooms have lots of wardrobes and storage spaces. The master bedroom is in the ground floor. This room opens to an enchanting courtyard which is tastefully decorated with mesmerizing vines and other flowering plants.

The kitchen, meanwhile, has been furnished in the rustic theme which is extremely attractive. Interestingly, the oven and fridge are arranged as in – built features. The cabinets here are done in plywood with mica finish. Granite has been paved on the counter top.

Those who visit this delightful mansion can’t sing enough praises for this house that has lots of green courtyards and open spaces. These serene green zones fill the interiors with a unique charm and positive energy. The family too feels proud when the guests appreciate them for building such a grand abode.
