Sooraj and Vineetha’s brand new house near Koonambayi temple in Kollam, Kerala, is a single-storey mansion that boasts new-age technology and modern architecture. The house designed in 2000 sq ft stands on a rectangular 8.5-cent plot. Interestingly, the elevation features a unique tropical design that isn’t commonly seen here. However, the interiors are what make this abode quite special.

This is a smart home where modern technology has been used for making life easier as well as to ensure safety. You could control the gate, lights, curtain fittings and the CCTV cameras using mobile phone from anywhere in the world. The sliding gate here could be noted as a reference for houses that are built in smaller plots. This sturdy gate is made using metal CNC work and NCP sheet.

Interestingly, two car porches have been arranged in this small plot. A wall enhanced with CNC cutting on Corten steel is the highlight in the sit-out. Meanwhile, the well in the front yard has been shortened and disguised using an interesting designer element to accommodate the car porch. The house has a spacious car porch, formal and family living areas, dining space, courtyard, kitchen with an adjacent work area and four bedrooms with attached bathrooms.

The wall in the quaint sit-out is decorated with splendid teak wood panelling. Meanwhile, the entrance door opens to the beautifully furnished interiors designed in the open theme. The spaces have been arranged in such a way that it is easier to catch a glimpse of the entire interior as soon as the door is opened.

The formal living area has a double-height ceiling and a designer wall highlighted with cement texture finish. Meanwhile, grey-coloured matte finished tiles in 4x2 size have been used for flooring in the common areas.

The courtyard is filled with beautiful indoor plants that fill the interiors with positive vibes. The skylight here brings natural sunlight into the house, illuminating the interiors with a scintillating shower of golden rays. The family living area and the dining space are part of the spacious hall. Lights arranged in veneer panelling add a unique ambience to this area. The spacious wash area too is designed elegantly.

A TV unit and a cozy lounge couch are part of the family living area. The glass door here opens to the adjacent courtyard. The artificial fountain and the Buddha statue make the courtyard extremely serene and beautiful. Interestingly, the courtyard is the family’s favourite spot in the house.

The kitchen is fabulously designed in eye-catching aqua green colour theme. Meanwhile, the cabinets are done in marine ply and mica lamination with fingerprint finish. The multipurpose sink and the storage spaces make the kitchen extremely space-efficient. A work area too has been arranged as part of the kitchen.

Interestingly, the bedrooms are beautifully designed in unique themes and have all the facilities.

The kids’ room in this house is truly a world of dreamy wonder. This splendidly designed room utilizes the colour palette and amazing designer elements in the smartest way. In fact, this room could easily be taken as a reference while designing kids’ bedrooms.

The construction of this amazing abode, including the structure and interiors, was completed on a budget of Rs 85 lakh. The owner spent Rs 55 lakh for constructing the structure while the interiors were done for a total bill of Rs 30 lakh.
