The liver is one of the main organs in our body that eliminates toxins, produces bile, assimilates nutrients and regulates metabolism. So, it is essential to ensure the health of the liver. However, liver diseases have been rampant, even among youngsters, due to various reasons, including alcohol addiction and infection. Millions of people around the globe suffer from liver diseases like hepatitis, fatty liver disease, cirrhosis and liver cancer.
It is crucial to recognise the symptoms in the initial stages to increase the possibility of a cure and survival. Noted gastroenterologist and oncologist Dr Saurab Sethi shares a post about three signs of liver disease that shouldn't be ignored on his social media handle.
1) Hepatitis/ jaundice
Yellow eyes or skin turning yellow in colour may be a sign of jaundice. Dr. Sethi says that the yellowish is clearly visible under sunlight.
2) Belly fat
There is a risk of liver disease if the belly gets bigger, even without changing dietary habits.
3) Pain
The liver is situated on the right side above the stomach. Dr. Sethi says that pain in this part of the abdomen shouldn't be ignored.
Exhaustion, dark coloured urine, nausea, vomiting and lack of appetite are some of the other symptoms of liver diseases. Your liver could be protected by eating a balanced diet, regular exercising, quitting alcohol addiction and smoking and by controlling body weight.
