Social media influencer Uorfi Javed has won her fans through her bold attire choices, statements and no-filter portrayals of her life. Recently, Uorfi shared a video in which she can be seen undergoing the lip filler procedure. Uorfi, whose face can be seen going through various stages of swelling in the video, captioned it thus: "No, this is not a filter. I decided to get my fillers dissolved as they were misplaced. I will get them again but naturally. I’m not saying no to fillers at all. Dissolving is painful. Also it’s very very important you go to a good doctor for fillers, all these doctors with fancy clinics know nothing . Finally I found @dr.rickson, trust me he’s the best."
What are lip fillers?
They are injections that add volume to lips, according to the Cleveland Clinic. The filler contains hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in our bodies. Many people get fillers these days to achieve the body they desire, correct proportions, and even smooth wrinkles. No, they won't stop the ageing process and can last only up to around 18 months. It's generally considered a safe procedure with very low side effects and complications, when done by a qualified doctor. As they are also reversible, your doctor can dissolve it, just like how Uorfi did with the help of Dr Rickson.
Why are they risky?
Though generally safe, lip fillers can cause the following issues as well, at times:
1) The procedure can result in asymmetrical lips
2) It can result in bleeding in other areas of your face
3) It can cause infections.
4) It can cause tenderness or discolouration
5) It can activate cold sores.
