Drone Olympics, women's day special to be highlights of Aero India 2019

New Delhi: Drone Olympics and women's day special will be the highlights of the next edition of Aero India Show to be held in Bengaluru in February, 2019. Indian origin US astronaut Sunita Williams will attend the event along with many distinguished guests.

The five-day event is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 20 at the Air Force Station (AFS) Yelahanka.

The tagline of the show - “Runway to a billion opportunities” - is inspired by the smallest and lightest multi-role indigenous fighter aircraft LCA Tejas.

The first three days are reserved for business activities and the show will be open for public on the last two days.

Business entry tickets are priced at Rs 2,750. Entry tickets to the display area and the Aero Show will cost Rs 1,800 and Rs 600 respectively.

Inaugural day will witness global Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) round table conference, in which over 15 major players will participate. Drone Olympics is scheduled on the second day where start up companies will present their innovations and models. Third day will be celebrated as women's day where Sunita Williams and a number of women achievers in the field of aviation industry will take part.

"For the first time, the ministry has encouraged the students to showcase their projects related to aviation industry. It will be closely monitored by the Joint Secretary level officer", Ministry of Defence Spokesperson Col Aman Anand said.

Also, top level international academicians will also take part in the academic seminar. A postal stamp on Aero India Show is also likely to be released at the event.

So far, 158 Indian and 106 foreign exhibitors have registered for the show. US, UK, Russia, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Sweden, Korea, UAE, Ukraine, Switzerland and Japan are a few which have enrolled themselves.

Overseas companies which have shown interest include SAAB, Boeing, ABC, Thales, and Airbus among others.

The Defence Ministry has taken proactive steps to make the 12th edition of the biennial air show a success.
