Two people died and eight others were injured, including a one-year-old child, after a four-storey building collapsed in the Welcome area of northeast Delhi on Saturday morning. According to PTI, rescue efforts are ongoing, with several individuals feared trapped under the debris. The Delhi Fire Services confirmed the deaths of a man and a woman, whose bodies were retrieved and sent to GTB Hospital. The victims included residents and bystanders near the building when it caved in.
Ten members of a single family lived in the building, and officials fear some may still be trapped. Emergency personnel continue to sift through the rubble in search of survivors."The ground floor and first floor are unoccupied. The building opposite also sustained damage," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Sandeep Lamba told PTI.
