New Delhi: Nearly 95 lakh voters were excluded from the draft electoral rolls of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Kerala and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The updated draft rolls for the three states and one Union Territory were published on Tuesday.

In the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, around 64,000 names were missing from the draft list out of a total electorate of 3.10 lakh, PTI reported. Kerala saw the removal of 24.08 lakh voters from its rolls, which originally had more than 2.78 crore electors.

In Chhattisgarh, as many as 27.34 lakh names were deleted from the draft rolls out of a total electorate of 2.12 crore. Madhya Pradesh recorded the highest number of deletions, with 42.74 lakh voters removed from the list of 5.74 crore electors.

The Election Commission said the final electoral rolls will be published on February 14 next year. Voters whose names have been excluded from the draft list can still apply for re-inclusion, with elector registration officers taking the final call.
