Kolkata: At least 17 were killed, and 15 injured in a stampede-like situation triggered by a crowd surge at a community Durga Puja pandal in north Kolkata on Saturday evening, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said. The incident occurred at the Chorbagan Durga Puja pandal as people waiting outside rushed forward amid rain, causing some to fall on the road, a senior police officer said. At least 25 people were taken to the state-run Calcutta Medical College and Hospital in serious condition, a police officer told PTI.
