No use slowing down before speed camera: motor cops to get the better of speedsters

Palakkad: If you are a frequent highway rider and confident of getting past the speed limit by slowing down on the spots where you know a camera awaits you, you are soon going to run into trouble.

The transport department and the police are getting smarter than the average driver.

Now on the speed will be checked also with the time taken to cover the distance between two cameras.

The system will be tried out along the stretch of the national highway between Walayar and Vadakkencherry, where the speed limit is set at 90 kilometres per hour.

The cameras will help the police spot vehicles wanted in hit-and-run cases or other crimes.

The cameras will be communicating with the police control room server and will raise an alert if it spots a wanted vehicle.

State-owned Keltron is expected to complete the work within 45 days.
