High waves likely along Kerala coast in the coming days

Thiruvananthapuram: High waves that can leap up to 2.5 to 3 m are likely to occur along Kerala coast between April 21 and 24.

The alert has been issued by the India Meteorological Department and the National Institute of Oceanography.

Fishermen and locals residing along the coasts of Kollam, Alappuzha, Kochi, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod should be vigilant, the authorities warned.

The waves can lash the coast forcefully during high tide. Boats should be anchored by keeping sufficient distance between them so as to avoid collision in case of turbulence. Tourists should keep off the seas during the period, the authorities advised.
