Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government on Wednesday appointed Tom Jose as the new chief secretary in place of Paul Antony who is retiring on June 30.
Dr A K Dubey and Aruna Sundararajan, who are senior to Paul Antony in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), are on deputation to the Centre as secretaries. Antony was named chief secretary as they did not want to return here.
The senior-most IAS officer after Antony is Anand Kumar who too is now serving at the Centre. Jose was chosen as Kumar decided to stay on there.
The Cabinet decided to appoint Dr Asha Thomas as additional chief secretary of labour and excellence, and gave additional charge of the co-operatives to food department secretary Mini Antony.
Additional chief secretary Subrato Biswas will be given extra charge of taxes and excise. Information and public relations secretary P Venugopal has been put in additional charge of taxes, while industries secretary Sanjay Kaul gets electricity also.
Mohammed Hanish will hold additional charge of Kerala State Inland Navigation Corporation as managing director.
Joshi Mrunmay Shankar, secretary-Kozhikode Corporation, has been chosen as additional director-tourism.
