Are you a student with an appetite for knowledge? It’s time to put your general awareness to test. Malayala Manorama and Saintgits Group of Institutions have launched a knowledge contest with the prize money totalling Rs 20 lakh. The Big Q Challenge is the largest quiz in Kerala in terms of the prize money, the number of prizes, and the number of participants.
Quizzing is constantly changing and evolving. The quizzes of earlier days, which tested the rote learning capabilities of students, are long gone. Now, modern quizzing is a cerebral arena in itself which tests the problem-solving and reasoning skills of the participants. New quizzes are thematically prepared and a 'quiz set' holistically encompasses the test of various cerebral skills. Also, there is an effort to standardize quzzing processes and grade competitors, as in other games.
High school and higher secondary school students can take part. The first level of the contest will be organised at the respective schools of the participants. The school-level contests start on August 7.
The first prize will be Rs 3 lakh, the second prize Rs 2 lakh, and the third prize Rs 1 lakh. The state-level contest will be telecast on Manorama News in 11 episodes. Students will have an opportunity to win Rs 1 lakh in each of the final six episodes. Winners will share the prize money with their schools. The first, second and third prize winners at the district level will take home Rs 7,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000, respectively.
