Kochi: The Kerala police have taken into custody one more person in connection with the murder of SFI leader Abhimanyu. The police suspect that Rajeeb was part of a gang that attacked Abhimanyu on the campus of Maharaja's College on July 1. The police nabbed him while he was returning to Kochi from Karnataka.

The police suspect the involvement of activists of the Campus Front, the students' organisation of the Popular Front of India, in the sensational murder.

Campus Front leader Muhammed Rifa, a key accused, was arrested on July 26. Rifa, who is also a third-year degree student at the Maharaja's College, had allegedly organised the gang of 15 to 17 men comprising activists of the PFI, its political offshoot SDPI and the Campus Front, to attack SFI activists on the college campus.

While Abhimanyu was stabbed to death, two other SFI activists suffered grievous injuries in the attack.
