Aluva: The Navy rescued a woman, in advanced stages of pregnancy, from flood-ravaged Aluva on Friday.
The woman was stranded in her home which got isolated in relentless rain. A Navy helicopter managed to reach the spot.
A Navy tweet said a doctor was rappelled down to assess the woman's condition. As the doctor gave a go, the woman was safely lifted to the chopper from the terrace of the building.
The woman had already moved into labour and had a ruptured amniotic sac, sources said.
She was immediately shifted to INS Sanjeevani, the Naval hospital.
The young woman who showed amazing resilience gave birth to a baby boy soon after. Both the mother and child are doing well.
