Sexual abuse case against Binoy Kodiyeri: Mumbai Police reach Kannur

Kannur/Mumbai: Two cops from Mumbai reached Kannur in Kerala in connection with the sexual abuse case filed against Binoy Kodiyeri, son of CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. Two sub inspectors met the district police chief. As the Superintendent of Police (SP) had a function to attend, they are waiting for a detailed interaction.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police took statements of witnesses at the Oshiwara police station. Binoy, too, will be summoned to Mumbai for questioning. The FIR in the case was submitted at the Andheri court on Friday. After the statements of the complainant is taken, the police might even consider arrest.

'Don't isolate Kodiyeri'

Minister A K Balan has said that Kodiyeri should not be isolated over the issue. "It is wrong to find fault with the leader over the mistakes made by his son. There is nothing wrong in the public and media discussing the issue. However, the allegations against Binoy should not be used against the party," he added.

The Bihar native, who had worked as a bar dancer in Dubai, had alleged that Binoy sexually exploited her for years under the pretext of marriage and that she had an eight-year-old son in the relationship. As per the complaint, she was abused from 2009 to 2018. It was only in 2018 that she came to know that Binoy was married, she claimed.
