Gold smuggling case accused Swapna joins NGO with RSS links

Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh has joined a New Delhi-based NGO that was chaired by former BJP minister S Krishna Kumar.

Swapna assumed charge as the Corporate Social Responsity (CSR) Director of the NGO at its Thodupuzha office.

Her employers are HRDS India (Highrange Rural Development Society), an NGO that claims to be contributing to tribal development. Former union minister Krishna Kumar was its patron and later president.

HRDS India website lists several Kerala-based personalities among its board members with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) faithful KG Venugopal the vice-president.

Swapna Suresh is out of bail in the 2020 case in which the diplomatic channel was used to smuggle gold.

She had been in news again recently with fresh accusations against co-accused M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
