Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in Kerala for the next few days. An orange alert was issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts on Friday, with predictions of isolated extremely heavy rainfall. Rainfall in these areas is expected to range between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm in the next 24 hours.
A yellow alert was declared in Alappuzha, Kottayam and Idukki districts, where rainfall is anticipated to range between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm over the next 24 hours.

The IMD has warned of short-duration heavy rains in alert zones, which could lead to flash floods, lightning-induced flooding, and urban waterlogging, particularly in low-lying areas. The ongoing rainfall may also trigger landslides and soil erosion.
