Alappuzha: A farmer died after being electrocuted by an electric wild boar trap allegedly set up by his neighbour near Thamarakulam here on Monday. The deceased is identified as Thamarakulam native Shivankutty K Pillai (65).
The incident happened around 7:30 am, when he was crossing the neighbour's property on his way to his agricultural land.
According to a PTI report, the neighbour, who initially helped in taking the victim to the hospital, has gone missing since the incident. Police have launched a search to trace him.
Puthanchantha ward member Deepa said that wild boar attacks have become a persistent issue in the area.
Police are investigating the issue while KSEB officials are also at the spot. The postmortem examination will take place soon at Vandanam Medical College.
