Kalpetta: Aimed at enhancing learning through hands-on experience, the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) has completed distributing 662 robotic kits to 85 schools across Wayanad. From this academic year, all Class 10 students will engage in practical modules introduced in the new ICT textbook.

In Chapter 6, titled "The World of Robots," the students will explore circuit building, the application of sensors and actuators, and the working of computer-controlled electronic gadgets. The chapter also introduces students to conceptual design and innovation. The first hands-on project involves creating an automatic sanitiser dispenser using components from the kit such as the Arduino breadboard, IR sensor, servo motor, and jumper wires. The second project tasks students with developing AI-based smart doors that open using facial recognition, as part of a home automation system.

To meet additional demand, KITE has also arranged for direct supply of robotic kits to schools interested in purchasing more. Meanwhile, special training for the 282 ICT teachers is expected to be completed by July 31.

In addition to the current kits, advanced versions capable of building moving robots will also be made available to Little KITE units this year. KITE CEO K Anvar Sadath added that Robo Fests will be organised in schools later this year.
