Admissions to the Sree Narayana Guru Open University for the 2022–23 academic year will commence as soon as the University Grants Commission gives it approval to conduct courses. This was announced by the State Minister of Higher Education Dr R Bindu in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
The committee with former director of State Council of Education Research and Training Dr MA Khader as the chairman was appointed in 2017 to study about the scope of revising the general education in the light of implementing the Right to Education Act of 2007.
The students would get stipend of Rs 6,000 and Rs 8,000 respectively in the first and last years. Specialisations are available in three fields: 1. Disease Biology, 2. Molecular Diagnostics and DNA Profiling, and 3. Genetic Engineering.
