School road repair is urgently needed as St. Antony’s LP School students appeal to officials about the dangerous conditions.

The students of St. Antony’s LP School, Pallikathode have written an open letter to Minister V Shivankutty and the district collector, drawing their attention to the terrible state of the road that leads to the school.

“We have been struggling for months due to the poor condition of the road that leads to our school. We have to wade through muddy waters every day to reach our school. When the rainwater dries up, the road turns into a huge puddle of slippery sludge.

Our school, St. Antony’s LP School, Kootamakkal is located at Kombara where the Kayyoori – Nedumavu road joins the main road. There is a total of 34 students in the school.

We find it difficult to reach the school in the morning and leave in the evening along the same road. The road that is just half a kilometre long is covered in muddy puddles and muck. It is submerged in water during the rainy season. Our uniforms get dirty trying to wade through the water and mud. Besides, there are houses on both sides of the road.

Our teachers say that the road gets covered in mud, and the sludge as there is no way for the muddy water to flow. Despite appealing to the authorities, the road’s condition remains the same. We hope that you will find a solution so that we can safely reach the school,” wrote the students.
