Thalassery: Steps have been initiated to set up the Kerala Future Technology Hub at Thalassery Engineering College. A meeting chaired by Speaker A N Shamseer approved the ₹50-crore project, prepared by the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education (CAPE) and funded by the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), to transform the college into a Centre of Excellence in research, innovation, engineering and management.
The project envisions a three-tier system offering students opportunities in research and development, establishing corporate partnerships to provide direct access to entrepreneurship and industrial mentorship and launching professional certification programmes along with examination centres.
It was also decided to form a team led by Prof Dr Umesh to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and to hold discussions with KIIFB on the 13th. The DPR will suggest necessary modifications to incorporate the proposed industrial park and ensure the involvement of the industries and labour departments.
Those present at the meeting included the Minister’s Private Secretary Dr P K Padmakumar, Deepu V Nair, CAPE Director Dr Thajudheen Ahammed, Joint Director Dr S Jayakumar, Thalassery Engineering College Principal Dr Aby David, Speaker’s Private Secretary T Manoharan Nair and Additional Private Secretary S K Arjun.
