Muvattupuzha: Work on a new hanging bridge being constructed in Muvattupuzha town as part of a riverside tourism project has started. One among the two pillars of the bridge, which will connect the Dream Land Park with Petta across the Thodupuzha river, has already been completed.
The bridge is being built with an amount of ₹5 crore sanctioned under the Central government’s ‘Amrut’ project. The municipality has prepared a plan to set up a tourist spot on the riverside in two phases, with a total expenditure of ₹13 crore. As part of the first phase, a walkway will come up from Kacherithazham to the riverside, in addition to the hanging bridge. A watch tower, museum, cafeteria, boat jetty and a solar boat for river cruises will be arranged during the second phase.
The tourism project is being implemented without disturbing the rocky areas and bamboo groves in the 4.5-acre Dream Land Park. Meanwhile, the municipality is also planning to renovate the existing park.
