Palakkad: A seven-year-old girl died in front of her father after falling from a scooter and being run over by a bus at Kozhinjampara on Monday, police said.

The victim, identified as Nafisath Misriya, was a Class two student at St Paul’s School in Kozhinjampara. She was travelling with her father to school when the accident occurred on the Palakkad–Pollachi Road, reported PTI.

According to police, the scooter lost control after an autorickshaw ahead braked suddenly to avoid a pothole. Both fell onto the road, but Nafisath was struck by a bus approaching from behind.

Though bystanders rushed her to the hospital, she died on the spot. Her father sustained minor injuries.
