Pala: Anganwadis in Kidangoor, Mutholi, Kozhuvanal, Akalakunnam, Elikkulam and Meenachil panchayats, which come under the Kidangoor district panchayat division, will receive brand new smart TVs as an Onam gift. District panchayat member Josemon Mundakkal has allocated ₹10 lakh for this by including it in the district panchayat project.

More than 800 students can enjoy songs, rhymes, short speeches and stories that aid their creative and intellectual development through the smart TVs. In addition, the syllabus, which includes around 30 such items prepared by the district Women and Child Development Department, can be imparted using the TV.

Awareness classes against alcohol and drug addiction, as well as other social vices, will also be held for the public. These sessions are expected to benefit teenage girls and their mothers.

Pen drives containing this content will be distributed to the anganwadis, enabling programmes to be played on the television without requiring a cable connection. The contents of the pen drives will be updated every year to meet the needs of the children. Meanwhile, the project will be monitored by the CDPOs, panchayat members, other elected representatives and ICDS supervisors of the Pampady and Lalam blocks.
