Kodiyathoor: The proposal to set up a KSEB power sub-station in the panchayat has reached its final stage, with the second phase of site inspections currently underway.
As part of the land identification process, the Transmission Deputy Chief Engineer of KSEB had earlier invited applications from landowners interested in handing over property for the project. At present, three sites in and around Pannikkodu are under consideration for the proposed sub-station.
A team led by Transmission Deputy Chief Engineer Lekha Rani, Kaniyambatta Transmission Executive Engineer Ashrafuddin, and Kunnamangalam Sub-station Assistant Executive Engineer K K Shubha visited these sites to prepare a detailed report.
It has been nearly ten years since steps were first initiated to construct a new sub-station in the region. The proposed 33 KV sub-station aims to address the severe voltage fluctuations and power shortages faced in various parts of Kodiyathoor Panchayat.
The project, which has been under consideration since the establishment of the KSEB section office at Pannikkodu, has gained momentum with the recent call for expressions of interest from landowners.
Local support for the project has also been strong. Sangamam West Kodiyathoor, a prominent collective in the area, has long advocated for the sub-station and has extended full backing to KSEB’s efforts. Sangamam Secretary P K Faisal also accompanied the KSEB delegation during the site inspection.
