Kozhikode: A man from West Bengal was arrested for vandalising a village office in Kozhikode city. The accused, identified as Parimal Kirtaniya (27), was taken into custody by the Town Police on Saturday.

The police said that Parimal trespassed into the Nagaram Village Office located at Valiyangadi Junction on Friday and allegedly smashed glass window panes and potted plants by throwing stones.

Police officials said the accused is believed to have mental health issues. "He made a loss of ₹25,000. Nobody in the town knew him. He might have got off a train recently," an officer said. 

Parimal has been moved to the Kuthiravattam mental hospital.
