Mahabali, also known as K T Sreekumar Kartha, surprisingly appeared at the Kottayam Sub-Registrar Office to sell 10 cents of land before Thiruvonam.
Kottayam: Mahabali turned up early at the Sub-Registrar Office in Kottayam ahead of Thiruvonam Day. And it was not to celebrate Onam, but to register the sale of 10 cents of land in his name!
The staff at the office were in for a surprise when Mahabali walked in around 2 pm on Wednesday. Dressed in full festive attire, he announced that he had come to sell his land. The surprise turned to amusement when it was revealed that ‘Mahabali’ was none other than K T Sreekumar Kartha, an overseer at the 220 kV KSEB sub-station in Poovamthuruth.
Sreekumar, who had dressed up as Mahabali for the Onam celebrations at his workplace, headed straight to the registration office in the midst of the festivities. He was enjoying the Onam feast with his colleagues when an alert came from the Sub-Registrar Office about his scheduled registration. The land, 10 cents of property in his name, was being sold to a family in Vandiperiyar.
To complete the formalities, staff asked him to temporarily remove his crown and artificial moustache to verify his identity with the photo ID. Once the registration was done, Sreekumar put his crown and moustache back on and walked out of the office once again as the legendary king.
