Kochi: A farewell function in Palluruthy on Thursday turned dramatic after two home guards got into a scuffle, reportedly following a quarrel over food. Police confirmed that no case has been registered in connection with the incident.
The officers involved were identified as George and Radhakrishnan, both assigned to traffic duty under the Ernakulam Traffic West police. According to sources, the dispute began over the portion of chicken served with biryani during the event organised near Palluruthy police station. The verbal exchange quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, leaving both with minor injuries.
A senior traffic officer said the matter remains internal as neither party has lodged a complaint. “Since they are temporary staff working on contract, the scope for disciplinary action is limited. If required, their services can be discontinued. We will review the matter further and decide on the next steps,” the officer added.
