Kozhikode: Mahila Congress leader and former Vadakara municipal councillor P K Pushpa Valli (65) died after being hit by a private bus at Vadakara new bus stand on Friday morning. She had come to the bus stand with her daughter and grandchild to travel to Kannur.

Pushpa Valli, a resident of Adakkatheru, Vadakara, sustained serious injuries to her left leg, left hand, and stomach after a private bus, operating on the Vadakara–Payyoli route, ran over her around 10.30 am. She was first taken to Vadakara Cooperative Hospital and later referred to a private hospital in Kannur, where she succumbed to her injuries around 1.30 pm.

Pushpa Valli had served as a councillor in Vadakara municipality for two terms. Her husband, the late M Gangadharan, was a retired cooperative department official. She is survived by her daughters, Lovely and Alka.
