Thiruvananthapuram: The State Election Commission of Kerala has released an updated list of election symbols ahead of this year’s local body polls. National parties, including the Indian National Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party, and the Communist Party of India (Marxist), will contest under their official symbols, such as the Hand, Lotus, and Hammer, Sickle and Star. Among state parties, the Communist Party of India, Janata Dal (Secular), and Indian Union Muslim League will also continue with their existing symbols. Kerala Congress (M) led by Jose K Mani will contest under the Two Leaves symbol, while the Kerala Congress, a UDF ally, has been allotted the Auto Rickshaw.

The notification also covers recognised state parties from outside Kerala with a presence in the state. The All India Trinamool Congress will use Flowers and Grass, Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) the Earthen Pot, and the Nationalist Congress Party the Man Blowing Turha.

The Commission further published the list of free symbols available for independent candidates and registered unrecognised parties without representation in the Kerala Assembly or local bodies. Symbols already allotted on priority basis to certain outfits are as follows:
