Thiruvambadi: The Iravanjivalley Farm Society in Thiruvambadi Panchayat, which forms a part of the Kozhikode Agro Farm Tourism Society, a farm tourism project under the District Panchayat, is fast emerging as a major study centre for farming groups in the state.
The farm boasts model plantations of coconut, areca nut, pepper and betel nut trees, along with a rich variety of fruits, vegetables, orchids, honey production, fish and ornamental fish farming, cattle, goats and poultry. Visitors are also drawn to the farm’s expert-led budding and grafting activities, as well as the manufacturing of value-added products.
Recently, a farming group from Payyavur in Kannur, led by Assistant Agricultural Officer M M Rameshan, visited the farm. They were also accompanied by Agricultural Assistants P Ajeesh, K K Deepam, Atma BTM Sharanya Chandran and Lead Field Assistant K Shyama.
Another visiting team from Pozhuthana in Wayanad was led by Agricultural Officer Amnal Vijay, along with Assistant M S Sudheesh, U R Vijaya Lakshmi, Atma Block Technology Manager Rekha Mohan and Assistant Technology Manager P S Sajina.
The teams were warmly received by Thiruvambadi Agricultural Officer Muhammad Fazil, Agro Service Centre in-charge Chelsea, and Farm Tourism Coordinator Aju Immanuel.
