Puthuppally: Students of Gems Education Life Valley International School here have woven creativity into reality by handcrafting as many as 300 overcoats.

These long overcoats, designed to be worn over regular clothing, were made by students from Classes 5 to 12 as part of a workshop titled Shades of Life. The coats will make their debut at the school’s Expo 2025 on October 11, where the children themselves will wear their creations.

During the workshop, students designed and embroidered patterns such as footballs, flowers and bicycles onto cotton fabric. The workshop was organised by setting up separate spaces for each step of the process, from cutting and colouring the cloth to stitching the final product.

The initiative was guided by School Principal Dr Merina Sebastian, Vice-Principal Dr Geo Sebastian, Programme Coordinator Jaison Mathew and Teachers’ Coordinator Teena Sarin.
