Following his father’s footsteps, Dhyan Sreenivasan takes up paddy cultivation in Kandanadu

Kandanadu: Following in his father’s footsteps, actor and director Dhyan Sreenivasan is now venturing into paddy cultivation.
Dhyan is set to launch cultivation on 80 acres of land in collaboration with the Kandanadu Polder Committee. The initiative continues a farming legacy started by his father, Sreenivasan, who began with just two acres—a venture that has now expanded to 80 acres in different phases.

Under Sreenivasan’s leadership, the Kandanadu Polder Committee has successfully restored paddy fields in the region that had lain fallow for several years.

This season, the cultivation will use Uma variety seeds, with over 15,000 kg brought in for the project. Indigenous paddy varieties will be grown on five acres. Committee members are currently in the final phase of ploughing and preparing the fields.

The project is a collective effort between Dhyan Sreenivasan and local residents Manu Philip Thukalan and Saiju Kurian Vyshyamparambil, who have leased the fields for the initiative. The sowing festival to mark the start of the season will be held tomorrow under the auspices of the Panchayat, the Agriculture Office, and the Madhya Kerala Farmer Producer Company. The event will take place at the Punnachalil Polders near Chemmachan Church in Kandanadu at 10 am, with MP Hibi Eden inaugurating the ceremony. Panchayat President Sajitha Murali will preside over the event.
