Ernakulam: Actor Rini Ann George, who had earlier raised a sexual harassment complaint against a young Congress leader, took part in a CPM protest meeting held in North Paravur. The meeting was organised to protest against the cyber attacks targeting CPM leader KJ Shine. Rini shared the stage with former minister KK Shailaja and Shine.
Speaking at the event, Rini said that, like Shine, she too had faced intense cyberattacks. "I had a very unpleasant experience with a young leader. I spoke about it openly, but I did not mention his name because I didn’t want to bring disrepute to that organisation. I had no intention to hurt or destroy anyone," she said.
Rini further added that she only questioned the manner in which young political leaders are supposed to behave. "I only meant to discuss how political leaders should behave ethically and respectfully toward women. But instead, I was subjected to severe cyberattacks," she said.
Rini, without naming the leader, had earlier shared her account on social media. She has since alleged that she became the target of defamatory campaigns online.
Shine, who earlier criticised her for believing in a political organisation that treats women with disdain, however, welcomed her to the party. KK Shailaja inaugurated the protest meeting.
