Kozhikode: A man who was found with injuries on his neck and hand near Kozhikode Beach died while being taken to the hospital on Saturday morning. The unidentified man, believed to be around 45 years old, was found inside a small shed at the entrance of Lions Park around 9 am by Corporation contingent staff.

“One of my co-workers first noticed the man bleeding inside the shed. He told us he had injured himself because he was fed up with life and asked us to inform the police only the next day,” said James Masidon, one of the workers who found him. “He said he had no family and had left home during his childhood. He also refused to share his native place or address,” he added.

The staff immediately informed higher officials in the Corporation’s health wing, who arranged to shift the man to Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode. However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Police at the hospital said the man was brought dead to the casualty. Officers from the Vellayil Police Station said efforts are underway to identify the deceased. A case has been registered, and an investigation is in progress.
