Mannar: A couple who had gone into hiding after defrauding several people with promises of overseas jobs have been arrested after 30 years. The accused, identified as 71-year-old Kanicherril Sasidharan and his wife, 65-year-old Shantini, were nabbed by the Mannar Police from Panvel in Mumbai.
The duo was originally arrested in 1995 in connection with a job fraud case and later released on bail, after which they absconded. In 1997, another case was registered against Sasidharan for a loan fraud involving KSFE, but he remained untraceable. As the couple failed to appear in both cases, the court later declared them fugitives.
A team led by Chengannur DYSP M. K. Binu Kumar tracked the couple to Panvel, where they were finally apprehended. They were produced before the Chengannur court and subsequently released on bail.
