Irinjalakuda: A 31-year-old man was arrested with MDMA worth several lakhs during a dawn operation on Wednesday. The accused, Firoz from Puthuponnani, was intercepted near the Irinjalakuda KSRTC bus stand shortly after arriving from Coimbatore. Police seized 110 gm of MDMA from his possession.
Firoz was previously declared an absconder in a 2024 case in which a Sub-Inspector was injured during an crackdown against ganja trafficking. The accused occupied a rented house in Irinjalakuda. He is suspected to be part of a network supplying drugs, including ganja, to students in the region.
The arrest followed a tip-off received by Thrissur Rural SP B Krishnakumar IPS. A special DANSAF team, led by Katoor Circle Inspector E R Biju, Anthikkad SI Afsal M, Irinjalakuda Additional SI Muhammed Bashi, Senior CPO Ranjith, CPO Sabith Sabu and Sunil Kumar C S, carried out the operation.
