Thiruvananthapuram: All CPI ministers may stay away from the Cabinet meeting tomorrow. As per reports, CPI refused to yield despite the intervention of CPM General Secretary MA Baby.
The CPM leader spoke to CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam over the phone to resolve the impasse. However, the CPI leader told Baby that the party would not back down from its stand. CPI, a major constituent of the ruling LDF combine, has opposed the state government's decision to sign the MoU for the PM SHRI scheme.
Reportedly, the decision to boycott the cabinet meeting was made at Tuesday's meeting of the party's available secretariat. When Binoy Viswam was asked about the matter, he responded only with 'Lal Salaam' to the reporters.
There is deep dissatisfaction within the CPM over the CPI's unwillingness to relent, despite the Chief Minister's intervention.
The CPI has yet to accept any formula put forward by the CPM, such as forming a Cabinet sub-committee to study the issue or delaying project implementation.
