Ambalapuzha: For CV Deepa and PS Jayan, rushing a woman who had collapsed in the bus to the nearby hospital was more important than completing the service on time.
Punnapra native Sandhya who was a passenger in the Alappuzha – Haripad Venad KSRTC bus had collapsed inside the bus. Driver PS Jayan and conductor CV Deepa of Haripad depot didn’t think twice before taking the bus straight to the nearby hospital.
Sandhya who boarded the bus from SD College Junction felt uneasy and collapsed when the bus reached Thookukulam. Deepa swiftly rushed to her and with the help of other passengers, placed Sandhya’s head on her lap. Meanwhile, Jayan didn’t stop the bus at any other stops and drove straight to the emergency department of the medical college.
Sandhya was then given first aid and treatment by the doctors there. The employees also made sure to inform Sandhya’s relatives. The bus left the hospital premise only after Sandhya’s relatives arrived.
The employees then operated the bus service from there to Haripad depot as usual. Meanwhile, the corporation officials appreciated Jayan and Deepa for their selfless service and presence of mind.
