Wayanad: A 16-year-old boy drowned while bathing in the Mutharikunnu River at Pozhuthana, Wayanad, on Saturday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Aryadev, a resident of Kadur near Meppadi.
A Class 10 student of Government Higher Secondary School, Meppadi, Aryadev, had gone to visit a relative’s house. After playing football with neighbours, he went for a swim in the nearby river, where he drowned.
Local residents rushed to the spot after being alerted by his friends but were unable to save him. The body was later recovered and taken to the hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.
The body will be handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination.
