Thrissur: Mystery looms over the sudden demise of a 28-year-old gym trainer at Wadakanchery here, as the post-mortem examination failed to determine the cause of death. Madhav, son of the late Manikandan of Onnamkallu, Kumaranellur, was found dead inside his bedroom on Wednesday morning.

According to the police, his internal organs have been sent for chemical analysis to ascertain the cause of death. It is learnt that Madhav had allegedly been using drugs to enhance muscle growth. The police reportedly recovered some drugs and a syringe from his bedroom.

Madhav, who regularly competed in bodybuilding competitions, used to go to the gym every day at 4 am. On Wednesday morning, when he did not come out of his room despite repeated calls from his mother, neighbours broke open the door and found him lying motionless on the bed.

Though he was rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital, doctors declared him dead.

Eyewitnesses said his face had turned blue, leading to an initial suspicion of a snakebite. However, doctors later confirmed that he had not died due to a snakebite.

Police said the exact cause of death can be confirmed only after receiving the results of the chemical examination. Madhav is survived by his mother and sister.
