Thrissur: The construction of the Sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum) for a temple dedicated to Lord Ayyappa in Mumbai has been completed at the serene village of Soopipadi near Chelakkod in Thrissur. Sculptor Soopipadi Mangottil Pratheesh finished the construction of the sanctum in just under three weeks.
The sanctum, which is 11 feet long, 10 feet wide and 13.5 feet tall, including the Kalashakumbams, will be transported to Mumbai. The Sreekovil has been crafted in exquisite teak wood and comprises of more than seventy removable pieces.
The sanctum has been crafted for the devotees of Lord Ayyappa at the Ayyappa Swamy Seva Mandal at Sancolivada, Mumbai. Meanwhile, the idol of Lord Ayyappa would be placed inside the Sreekovil on December 18.
